The Government of the current term is establishing interim “District Health Centre Express (DHCX)” in 11 districts including Wan Chai, Eastern District, Yau Tsim Mong, Kwun Tong, Tai Po, Islands District, North District, Sha Tin, Kowloon City, Sai Kung, and Central and Western District. The purpose is to enhance district-based primary healthcare services in order to effectively change the current focus of healthcare services from treatment to prevention.
DHC Express is a primary healthcare initiative of the Government. Through public-private partnership, medical-social collaboration, it provides district-based primary healthcare services aiming to enhance public awareness of disease prevention and their capability in self-management of health; drive healthy lifestyle for prevention of chronic disease; support the chronically ill to prevent deterioration; and enhance client access to primary healthcare services.
In order to develop healthy lifestyle with citizens living or working in Kwun Tong district, Kwun Tong DHC Express is organising a series of health activites/ workshops/ seminars, etc.
DHC Express will procure services from non-government entities in the community and form the DHC network. The DHC network service providers include Medical Practitioners, allied health professionals (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, podiatrists, speech therapists, optometrists) and Chinese Medicine Practitioners. To enhance the accessibility of clients to DHC services, healthcare practitioners from nearby districts can also join the DHC network.
